21 states commit to updating grid technologies under federal initiative.
This week, President Biden’s administration announced the Federal-State Modern Grid Deployment Initiative. The partnership will begin with 21 states to modernize America’s electric grid, offering the states federal resources and technical assistance to implement modernized energy transmission technology.
“Historically, expanding the capacity of the U.S. power grid has typically relied on building new transmission lines with technologies that have not changed since the mid-twentieth century,” the White House stated. “Today, a new generation of modern grid technologies provides a significant opportunity to achieve power system capacity expansion.”
This initiative furthers the administration’s goal of creating a carbon-neutral energy grid by increasing grid connections to renewable energy inputs. By encouraging grid modernization on the state level, the president’s administration can bypass Congressional debates to improve the capacity for increased transmission of energy between communities and energy sources.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Jennifer Granholm to be led by the Lord as she oversees the Energy Department.
- For the president and his energy advisors as they implement projects to modernize power infrastructure.
